Design thinking Core: It’s not about you.

It’s not about you, your team, or your boss. It’s simply not.

Your user is the king. Your user will tell you what’s the real problem you ought to be tackling. No assumptions at this point. Got that nailed down? Good. Now, go to the next step.

Your users’ narratives have to be truly understood and empathized. Only then can you insert your creative juices!

Once this mindset is ingrained in you then you are ready for the next step.

More thoughts to come, so stayed tuned!

  1. So true! I’mm currently writing something with the exact same sentiment. You might appreciate this quote I am including from the Kelley brothers in their book ‘Creative Confidence’, “When you specifically set out to empathize with your end user, you get your own ego out of the way”.

    1. Thank you Kaleigh for your comment. Ego is a dangerous thing for any potential product. We do need ego to pass through harsh times but it needs to be moderated. You are absolutely right!
